Blueberry Lemon Loaf

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” — Winnie the Pooh   The weather here in Toronto is much cooler and the leaves have hues of yellow and orange already, nudging us that fall is around the corner. Nature’s gentle reminder perhaps, that it’s time to bid goodbye to summer. One knows that the warm and sunny days will eventually end, but it still does not make saying adieu any easier. I feel this summer just flew past really quickly. It was almost just yesterday that one was counting down to summer walks in the parks and long drives to the cottage country, berry picking and packing picnic sandwiches. This summer has had bitter sweet memories of course with the current pandemic and various cautions in place.I for one, am still holding onto the last bits of glorious sunshine and perhaps one last summer recipe here on my blog. I had been craving for flavours of lemon, blueberries and almond for ever so long! My birthday soon …

Summer Fruit Picking: Mixed Berries & Chia Seed Jam

Spring & Summer outdoor activities are synonymous with farm visits and fresh berry picking. With an abundance of  summer berries ranging from strawberries, raspberries, Saskatoon berries and black currants, one is spoilt for choice through the summer. We visited Brooks farms located in  East Gwillianbury, Ontario a couple of weeks ago. This family run farm has vast acres of various  Berries, Peas, & Sunflowers. The sheer joy of walking through the fields and getting to pick your own berries is very relaxing and therapeutic indeed. The farm also hosts a covered farmers market store that stocked on various fresh farm produce including asparagus, rhubarb, snap peas and corn. They also had a great variety of honey and maple syrup, home made old fashioned fudge and a variety of dairy and meat products.   Berry picking is a delicious …

Well those of you who  have been following my blogging journey have probably seen me make these up for a kids at a no bake workshop a couple of years ago. They absolutely love getting their hands messy with chocolate and making up these truffles. The creamy peanut butter interior is perfectly paired with a delicious dark chocolate coating.I also like to use an alternative recipe that uses Cream cheese,Peanut butter and Melted Chocolate.Either ways they turn out great. The summer holidays are upon us,so do go  ahead and make these up with your kids. The flavours of Chocolate and …

Warm Beetroot & Feta Salad on Parmesan Crisps

Aaah, summer – that long anticipated stretch of lazy, lingering days, free of responsibility and rife with possibility. It’s a time to hunt for insects, master handstands, practice swimming strokes, conquer trees, explore nooks and crannies, and make new friends… Darell Hammond     It’s been over five months having  moved to Mumbai. Time sure flies! Also we are facing the onslaught of a very hot Indian summer, something one had all forgotten about. Well yes we’ve lived in the Middle east for over 15 years, but some how never bore the brunt of it. I guess the luxury  of being in  air-conditioned comforts all the time made a huge difference. I find myself being outdoors a lot more here in Mumbai with either making quick runs to the fabulous fruit and vegetable markets in the neighbourhood, or a stroll on the beach or just walking from point to point.
